New loaders reinforce market strength

The new LiuGong T Series wheel loaders, including the 848T model, is set to reinforce the brand’s strong market position in Australia. The new Series has reached new heights in design, efficiency, durability, intelligence, safety and comfort.

A brand new machine release with further game-changing design advancements for a manufacturer that is already at the top of the tree in the segment was tipped to have a big impact in the market. And this is the way the story has unfolded for LiuGong and its new T Series wheel loaders.

LiuGong is the number one seller in the Western Australian market for wheel loaders in the 10 to 20-tonne market segment and earlier this year it unveiled the first 16t 848T and 13t 838T loaders to arrive in the country, which have since been joined by a 6t 820T loader and much larger 33t 890T machine.

The T Series loaders have been showcasing their performance for various material handling activities at numerous major industry sites, and the result has been significant sales that have surpassed the already lofty expectations.

Demonstrations of a couple of the new T Series’ electric cousins, wheel loaders ranging from 6-35t, have also been in motion and attracting plenty of attention, particularly for their cost savings. Based on a 20t operating weight loader being used for 2000 hours per annum, the savings are upward of $50,000pa. There are well over 6000 electric LiuGong wheel loaders already operating globally through Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America and Latin America with more than 12 million operating hours.

Johnny Inferrera with LiuGong Australia said early demand for the new T Series wheel loaders has been strong, with equal sales into the agricultural and civil construction sectors, mainly to new customers, and the 848T model proving particularly popular with the agriculture industry.

“Operators involved in the demonstrations have been absolutely wrapped with the machines,” Johnny said.

“The loaders are proven for various material handling, including earthmoving, fertiliser and grain handling, and, in addition to various attachments such as hay and pallet forks, operators can source even bigger buckets with them if desired.”

The buckets come with movable teeth/blades that are now more convenient to assemble and disassemble, while the main knife plate and side cutting plate have been treated with special processes to ensure longer wear resistance.

Leading the plaudits with the LiuGong T Series wheel loaders are there significantly enhanced design and European styling, all-new cab environment and their power and efficiency.

“The European styling is very good and the new instrument panel allows a lot of easy controllability for operators from the cab. Everything is done by touch screen – there are no dials – and operators can specially set things for separate activities,” Johnny said. “I believe it’s better than anything else on the market.”

The 820T loader has a 73-horsepower (54-kilowatt) Yanmar motor, the 848T and 838T models are powered by upgraded 180hp (133kW) and 150hp (113kW) Cummins B7 engines with built-in power curves, while the 890T model lifts the grunt to 350hp (261kW) with a Cummins X12 engine.

A liquid-driven, air-in type cooling system with intelligent fan speed adjustment has been rearranged to optimise the wind field and enhance heat dissipation with the T Series loaders, furthering their ability in extreme working conditions.

Fuel tank capacity also has increased to 240 litres with the smaller loaders and up to 608L with the 890T model, while maintenance has also been made easier for operators. They can add fuel and oil, as well as service the diesel filters all from ground level. Oil changes are only required every 2000 hours, helping further reduce maintenance costs.

The hydraulic system has also had an update, incorporating the conversion of a two-pump combined flow system to a single-pump unit, which has increased the working pressure of the hydraulic system.
