Roll up: Upgrades to New Holland's Roll-Belt balers include an improved net knife and duck bill system.

New Holland Agriculture continues to upgrade its Roll-Belt variable chamber balers with changes to the pickup and wind guard to further enhance the flow of material into the bale chamber.

The pickup is now protected by a cut-out clutch doing away with shearbolt protection.

New Holland’s best in class net wrapping system is well known for its edge-to-edge bale wrapping. This has also received some upgrades to the net knife and duckbill system. The net knife orientation has changed to a forward cut and the duckbill drive motor has been improved to ensure longevity in all conditions.

Software changes have also been introduced to provide a pre-cut position for the net system.

For control, the IntelliView IV display was introduced the Roll-Belt range last year, ticking the box to have all New Holland’s hay and forage products with the same display and commonality across the full range.

Standard from factory, a moisture meter was also introduced in 2020 with an interface directly linked to the IntelliView display showing real time moisture without needing a second display.

“New Holland has been an innovator in the Roll-Belt baler segment nearing 30 years, introducing pioneering firsts that have changed the way variable chambers operate today,” said Bruce Healy, New Holland general manager ANZ.

“This is such a successful baler that there are more than 25,000 of them at work in fields around the world.”

The optimal IntelliBale system, which can be specified on ISOBUS class 3 compatible AutoCommand and PowerCommand New Holland tractor models, automates the tractor control functions, reducing operator fatigue and fuel consumption.

This technology enables the baler to control the tractor’s forward motion: it brings the tractor to a stop when the pre-set bale diameter has been reached, wraps the bale, raises and closes the tailgate when the bale has been ejected, then gives the operator the signal to restart driving and continue baling.

IntelliBale technology also allows bale diameter to be automated.

Sune Nielson, product segment manager, New Holland Australia, added: “the Roll Belt Round Baler remains a market leader in Australia, and with the latest updates this will ensure that the brand continues to be the dominant player in the Round Baler sector.”
