Merlo 42.7TT Telehandlers – lift, weigh and drive better

McIntosh & Son

What’s different about the Merlo Turbofarmer telehandler?

The Turbofarmer 42.7TT CS 140 builds has a boom side shift and chassis levelling as standard, and the option of a CVT transmission.
The latest model builds on an already popular model, with added safety.
The new side-mounted engine allows easy access for servicing with an interval of 500 hours on the engine oil.
A reverse fan comes standard and runs of its own hydraulic pump, which ensures it always runs at the correct speed.

Any updates to power?

Engine power is 100kW (136hp) from its four-cylinder, 3.6 litre Deutz power plant,
making it ideal to handle the workload of a busy farmer. The TF 42.7 CS also offers full-time 4WD, unlike previous models.

What’s the feel of the cab?

Merlo telehandlers are widely known for their cab suspension.
The cab sits on mechanical guides, using a single hydraulic cylinder underneath to allow it to move up and down.
It’s self-centring and adjusts to the weight inside of it.
The Merlo cab is designed to keep operators within safe working limits of the machine and displays all information on a clear,
easy to see screen, along with boom height, length and angle.
The cab also includes an inching pedal - allowing the farmer more precise control and causing less wear than solely using the brakes.

How will users benefit?

The system delivers the ability to weigh loads at any time with any attachment.
Cruise control is another great function that allows the telehandler to work like a road vehicle.
The impressive 7.1 metre boom extension is better than most others on the market,
making them the best choice for tasks such as stacking bales.
The two transmission choices both have a fuel saving setting, for maximum fuel efficiency.
The boom extension also turns off automatically when the machine is travelling slower than 3km/hr,
allowing for precision movements when loading or unloading.

What’s feedback been like so far?

Merlo Specialist Joe Cox said the new horsepower is an ideal change for farmers.
“The upgrades to power are really good. The new upgrades can handle the work expected from a busy farmer.”
Joe said the new weighing system is a great addition.
“The new system means you can weigh any load at any time. It’s great for giving an indication of chemical weights during seeding.”
Joe also said comfort is a huge selling point for the telehandler.
“The new cab suspension has really improved. It’s much more comfortable now, even over uneven surfaces, which is making it a popular choice.”
“The active boom suspension has made the cab more comfortable over long distances which is great. It’s a much smoother ride.”
