E-Kay Crop Dividers already paying for themselves at Lynford Farms

Lynford Farms

E-Kay Crop Dividers fitted to a Miller sprayer just in time for the season have already paid for themselves, according to Pieter Blignaut, cropping manager at Lynford Farms, Williams, WA.

“With what we’re saving, we’ve basically paid for them outright,” Pieter said.

Located south-southeast of Perth at Williams, Lynford Farms operates a mixed farming enterprise, with 50% of the operation dedicated to sheep and 50% to cropping.

For the 2026 season, the farm’s cropping program includes canola and cereal grains, with this season being Lynford Farms’ first using E-Kay Crop Dividers for spraying.

For Pieter, the decision to fit E-Kay Crop Dividers this season was an easy one, with wheel-track damage previously estimated to account for around 5% of the crop.

“The decision can be quick to make when you realise how much you can save,”

According to Dave Rogers, McIntosh & Son sales representative, based on typical canola production in the region, a conservative 4% reduction in crop losses from wheel-track damage could retain approximately 120 tonnes of canola. At an indicative 2026 canola price of $900 a tonne, this represents approximately $108,000 in potential crop savings. Potential savings will vary depending on seasonal conditions and individual cropping programs.

Designed to minimise crop damage

E-Kay Crop Dividers are designed to create a clean path through the crop as the sprayer moves through the paddock. The lightweight, adjustable-pitch cones feature a solid front tip and flared sides, helping guide crops away from the sprayer wheels.

Chris Elliott, National Parts Manager at McIntosh Distribution, who distribute E-Kay Crop Dividers nation-wide, said demand for the crop saving devices has been high this season.

“We’ve seen strong interest in E-Kay Crop Dividers across all our regions."

"Growers are looking for practical ways to reduce crop trampling, and the lightweight design, adjustability and ease of fitting are key reasons they’re choosing E-Kay,” Chris Elliott, National Parts Manager at McIntosh Distribution.

The pivoting divider arm has minimal moving parts and can be adjusted to suit different crop conditions, while the spring-loaded pivoting nose cone trips over obstacles such as washouts, lodged material and road crossings.

Installation is also straightforward, with the fast-attach pocket mount allowing a single operator to fit the dividers in minutes.

The canola crop at Lynford Farms is currently standing at approximately 1.2 metres, and Pieter said the combination of strong canola values and the potential for unnecessary trampling losses made it the right time to invest in protecting the crop.

Their first season using E-Kay Crop Dividers is already demonstrating the value of reducing crop losses from wheel-track damage.
