McIntosh & Son Merredin Expand with New Facility to Better Serve Region

McIntosh & Son has opened its newly redeveloped branch in Merredin, marking an exciting milestone in the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality service and support to its customers in the region.

The modern space, located at Lot 81 Adamson Road, Merredin, boasts an expansive layout designed to streamline operations, create more job opportunities and offer increased capacity for both service and parts offerings.

Aaron Sachse, McIntosh & Son Merredin and Cunderdin Branch Manager shared his excitement for the new location. “This move has been a big step for us, and we’re excited to showcase the larger showroom with a range of new machines and parts."

“We also now have a dedicated training room where we can host training for both customers and staff, like our header schools and precision farming workshops, which is something we’ve been looking forward to for some time.”

The new branch features spacious workshop areas covering more than 4800 m2, a substantial upgrade from the 1200 m2 workshop at the previous facility.

"Our service manager, Jay [Constantini] now has the space to increase the number of units coming in, which has proven very valuable in the lead up to seeding this year."

The addition of an overhead mobile gantry crane in the main workshop has enhanced workplace safety by facilitating lifting and movement of equipment, while reducing the physical strain on employees and the need for additional machinery.

"The 5-tonne crane spans the entire length of the workshop and 35 metres across the width, so can be accessed at any point over the service bays," Aaron said.

Service is not the only department that has expanded, as parts manager Jamie Hutchings has spent the last two months moving into 1000 m2 of parts storage.

“The bigger parts area is a game-changer,” said Aaron. “We’ve also expanded our parts counter to accommodate five parts staff in the future, which will mean faster parts service and allow our team to hold more stock when we need it most during seeding and harvest”

In addition to the customer-focused upgrades, McIntosh & Son Merredin’s new facility also includes steel fabrication and boiler-making capabilities on-site, as well as 3160 m2 of undercover storage for new and used equipment, and customer’s machinery that is in for servicing and repairs.

"Our focus since moving in February has been parts and pre-deliveries of seeding equipment," Aaron said, "We are now looking at growing the team."

Anthony Ryan, McIntosh & Son northern branches General Manager, said the six-year process of planning and building has paid off.

"When we moved to Merredin in 2016, the plan was to grow the business by increasing the workshop area and parts capacity. We identified that we couldn’t do that on the current site, so we had to start again by finding available land, and then build something from scratch," Anthony said.

"Once we identified the land we wanted, we had to subdivide, rezone and then amalgamate the blocks before we could commence development, so this new Dealership has been a long time coming."

"This region is one with very progressive growers, who are always keen to look at new technologies, processes and machinery, and they need a dealership that can support their growth," Anthony said.

“We believe this move is a clear reflection of our long-term investment in the Merredin community, and we’re excited to be in a position to offer even better service to our customers.”

With the expanded facility now open, McIntosh & Son Merredin is ready to offer enhanced services, greater product availability, and improved facilities to support the local industry.
